It is World Mental health Day today and a very timely theme for the year 2024 is ‘It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace’.

Most of us spend a big chunk of our time at work and still it took a pandemic to underline the importance of Mental Health in the workplace.The Covid break out and “work from home” routine brought words like ‘burnout’, ‘work life balance’ etc. in to our conversation and also the need to address it urgently.

In this post we will learn why mental health in the workplace is important and what can we do to improve it.

Mental health in the workplace has a significant impact on both employees and organizations. Here are some compelling statistics:

  1. Lost Productivity: Globally, it is estimated that 12 billion working days are lost every year to depression and anxiety, costing the global economy around $1 trillion per year in lost productivity (World Health Organization, WHO).
